Interview with Evgenia Bilichenko, Accounting Consultant

Dear Evgenia, tell us briefly about your professional background.

Hello, my name is Evgenia Bilichinko. I graduated from the Moscow Academy of Economics and Law, where I obtained my diploma in Finance and Accounting. I began my career as an accountant in a travel agency and later worked as an accountant at our sister-company, G-Nius.

With the establishment of LowLands, I had the opportunity to join the team as an Accounting Consultant. It has been an exciting journey, and I am thrilled to bring my expertise to assist businesses in navigating the complexities of accounting in Russia.

What are you responsible for at LowLands?

Currently, I have the privilege of providing assistance to multiple subsidiaries of foreign companies engaged in business operations in Russia. My role primarily revolves around handling Russian statutory accounting for these clients. Our esteemed clientele represents a diverse range of countries and industries spanning from agriculture, industrial machinery to consumer goods.

At LowLands, our utmost priority is to cultivate long-term relationships with our clients, and I have been fortunate to work closely with them for an extended period of time. This allows me to provide them with consistent, reliable support tailored to their unique needs.

Why do you enjoy working for LowLands?

I am grateful for the opportunities to explore various accounting fields and enhance my proficiency in the Russian accounting process, including HR & Payroll, banking procedures, advance payments & advance reporting, and other vital aspects.

Given the constantly changing regulatory landscape, I am vigilant in keeping abreast of all the latest updates and amendments in Russian accounting. With LowLands' robust support, we can guide our clients through the intricacies of Russian accounting and business regulations with ease.

What is the most difficult in your job in your opinion?

While working with our clients, I have encountered the unique challenge of accommodating various reporting standards and internal accounting systems. Initially, this diversity can pose a challenge, but I quickly adapt and tailor my approach accordingly. Once familiar with their specific requirements, managing these differences becomes second nature.

Which challenges do you face in 2023 in accounting in Russia?

Well, there may be occasional delays in bank transfers due to sanctions. However, based on our experience, we have found that clients and contractors still receive these transfers without significant issues. We take pride in offering comprehensive support to our clients, particularly those who are new to the Russian market. Our team is well-equipped to provide firsthand information on bank transfers and guide you through the process of Opening a bank account in Russia.

In addition, we acknowledge the challenges associated with the transfer to the Unified Tax Account, which has recently been introduced by the Russian tax authorities. This new accounting procedure governs the accruals and payments of taxes and insurance premiums starting from 2023. Given its recent implementation, the system is still in its early stages and may have some limitations. Rest assured, LowLands' clients need not worry about these changes in procedures and regulations. Our team of experts will navigate and manage them ensuring compliance and smooth operations.

At LowLands, we prioritise providing exceptional support and guidance to our clients, relieving them of the burden of dealing with complex accounting processes and regulatory changes.
